Stagboys Concert Fundraiser!!

The Stagboys are hosting a fundraising concert on Sunday evening, May 24th, at 5:00pm. The event will kick off with Jerad Harness and his band The Martini Time Cowboys lead off the evening around 5:00. Jerad won the regional Colgate Country Showdown and recently has joined forces with some very accomplished musicians to do shows. Jerad is wowing audiences through-out the Tri-State area, so don't be late!
Headlining the evening, is Emily Riesen at 7:00 who is coming from Nashville to perform at our concert. Check out Emily's website at www.emilyriesen.com. She has a dynamite video out and several recordings. Emily's newest recording, "All Out of Smiles" pays tribute to the families who are separated by the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Emily recently opened for Cross Canadian Ragweed. She is bringing her band from Nashville and St. Louis. Emily is originally from Warsaw, graduated from SIU-Carbondale, and then moved to Nashville.
Anchoring the night will be the Staggard band from 9:30 to around 11:30 or so. Staggard has been around the area for 6 years and have a great following. The lead singer for Staggard is Matt Froman who also plays 1B for the Stagboys. Bass player Scottie Vaughn is also the color man for Warsaw home games playing "at-bat" music and between innings music. If you've seen Staggard, you know they'll rock your sox off! All of these talented musicians grew up right here in Warsaw!
The Warsaw VFW will be frying fish and Hayloft Concessions will be in attendance with a variety of "Fair Food". We'll have the beer wagon going with celebrity bartenders and there'll be souvenirs available too.
We'll be having a 50/50 drawing and raffling off a 12 gauge Shotgun-there'll be limited amount of tickets available to make the odds favorable for the winner!
The event is a fundraiser for the Warsaw Stagboys Mens Fastpitch Softball team. We plan on charging $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under, and children under 5 will be free.
Bring your lawnchairs or a blanket as limited seating will be available on a first come/first serve basis.
No outside coolers or food are to be brought into the venue.
Stagboys Reunion!!

Starting the home 2009 Softball Season, on June 6th at the Warsaw Fairgrounds, the 2009 edition of the Warsaw Stagboys will host a reunion of the past softball greats of the area who played the game. Come out and visit with many of the retired Warsaw Stagboys who started it all while the new Stagboys play against the all new 23U team from Warsaw. The 2nd game will be against Shady Catz Bar-you'll have to come out to see who's playing! All players from the area are invited along with everyone else! Last year was a blast!
The original Stagboys competed in the '70's and '80's and put Warsaw on the map in the world of Men's Fastpitch. During those years, the Stagboys competed against some of the best Men's fastpitch teams in the World...Cedar Rapids, Decatur. Aurora, Bloomington...the teams that traded years winning National and World Titles. Perennial contenders for the Illinois State Title, the Stagboys were known throughout the Midwest as a team to be reckoned with at any level of play.
The Warsaw Stagboys will be competing for one of the slots at the 2009 ISC II Tournament of Champions to be held in Rock Island, IL. For the first time ever, Warsaw will be welcoming International players from New Zealand to the squad. This will bring a new flavor of ball to the team and needed notoriety to the sport of men's fastpitch in the Western Illinois, Southeast Iowa and Northeast Missouri sporting circles. The Stagboys are excited to welcome Michael Jamieson, Troy Pirie, and Carl McIlroy to Warsaw. Also joining the team again after several years with the competition is veteran southpaw pitcher Tony Koehler. Tony was selected as an All-World pitcher at last years NAFA Masters Tournament. The Stagboys also plan on competing at the ASA Class A National Tournament held in Decatur, Illinois this year. 2009 marks more than 35 years of at least one competitive fastpitch team playing out of Warsaw.
There'll be entertainment, good food, and cold refreshments to be had at the 2009 Stagboys Reunion. Last year was great and this year will be even better!
